Big Boned 03:39
Wednesday, bleeding into Thursday Trying to find the right time to go outside again Monday, pushing into Sunday Time to go to work again pretend to be OK Do a bad job, asked what's wrong Mouth opens up, sings the safe ground I didn't sleep well, my body's been ill my money is a mess, I've got some work stress I'm not mad I'm big boned I'm not mad I'm big boned Weigh in, first thing in the morning Naked, with your shoes off Did you keep your mouth shut enough this week Will you keep your mouth shut enough next week What a bad job, you did your body wrong If you were smaller you might get to be loved But you're not bad, you're big boned You're not bad, you're big boned We all know that we'll turn on her when she puts the weight back on Cos it's for her own good, it's for her own good, it's for her own good You can't medicate, this type of hate away This is not a game any of us are winning And you are a body waging war on itself There's nowhere to be exiled to There's nowhere to retreat to I think we know when we turn on her it'll keep us all in line But it's for our own good, it's for our own good, it's for our own good We're not bad we're big boned We're not bad we're big boned I'm not mad I'm big boned I'm not mad I'm big boned

I hear things on the radio they get mis-stored as images I look at them when I have nothing left to say You visit me in the bar in my dream where we are always drinking but I'm never drunk and you are always, always about to leave I have been shouting through walls, oh I have been swallowing pebbles, coughing up sand I have been grinding my teeth, to the tune of a marching band I have been tripping up over latin and I've been shouting through walls I see traces everywhere, I send postcards to a past Waiting just to get one back to prove it's not dead You're still losing my sleep, let's take that flight from Gatwick I'm only just holding on to my name I have been shouting through walls, oh I have been swallowing pebbles, coughing up sand I have been grinding my teeth, to the tune of a marching band I have been tripping up over latin and I've been shouting through walls If you've been taking these pills for a year and half you should probably know what colour they are but no I just don't have the time to take this in I see you because I'm looking for you You find me because I let you In the end, it all comes down, to where I place the blame I have been shouting through walls, oh I have been swallowing pebbles, coughing up sand I have been grinding my teeth, to the tune of a marching band I have been tripping up over latin and I've been shouting through walls

We say that this town is built on a floodplain But I think that really we're living under water And one day I'll surface in Bristol or Brighton I'll empty my lungs and try to describe it But it will be hazy and oxygen depleted And all I will manage is to say There was no world but there No world but there No world but there We know that this house was built as a laundry But I think that sometimes I treat it like a chapel And one day I'll wake up in a one bedroom apartment I'll grow a new heart and I'll say It felt like there was no world but there No world but there No world but there I know that something's not better than nothing And I know you would say you never meant to use me But I don't believe you and in that I'm drowning And maybe one day that will change but today all I can say is There is no world but here No world but here No world but here We say that this town is built on a floodplain But I think that really we're living under water

Powys Sky 02:11
Powys Sky, you've seen me panic, one too many times I always say I'm gonna go, oh oh I always say I'm gonna go and then I never go, I never go I know, the Dyfi doesn't need me when she's holding me But I, I'm riverfed, none the less When I get to him I am so tired I ignore every sign There were safer places to lie down, but that's the one TV tells me to find, every time Powys Sky, you've seen me losing it at least a thousand times You're always threatening to fall, oh oh I always think you're gonna fall but then you never fall, you never fall I know, the Dyfi doesn't notice when I'm not there But when I'm not riverfed, I am less When I get to him I am so tired I ignore every sign There is never space for me to stand, but maybe that part of the plan is mine, every time Powys Sky, you won't believe me but that one, was the last time

about

The four songs on this EP climbed out of the underwater, of warped memory, of absence, of hunger, of the buildings I've lived in.

Big Boned is a response to diet culture and fatphobia. Shouting through walls plots the flow of different strands of the same depression. No world but here is a tug of war. Powys Sky is the refrain of a heartbreak.
